Guys! I've finally gotten over my brain problem around wearing eyeshadow and having bangs at the same time. I don't know why but it was just one of those things that I couldn't get over for whatever reason and my life was worse for it. Like where is the joy in makeup if you can only wear eyeliner and that's that?
Because I'm not about that life and I finally don't feel like a weird bang-and-eyeshadow-wearing so and so, I've popped all my little non-neutral faves into a little post for ya. I like doing the neutral Adele contoured eye look as much as the next gal but sometimes you just need to throw on a lavender-pink duochrome, you know?
All of these eyeshadows are from Makeup Geek because I'm pretty sure at this point I only have Makeup Geek eyeshadows but don't worry it's not sponsored or anything, I just really love 'em.
Even though this is all about the best of the brightest, it just feels like a weird palette without having a few lights, you know? These bbs are good all rounders for highlighting and brightening and aren't champagne gold for a change. For the bright brightest of the bunch, and my inner corner favorite, I've got *Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow in Nostalgic. This guy is the best for bright highlights because it's foiled. That means the finish is metallic and also that it makes my tiny little heart sing.
These next two look pretty similar in the pan but are actually super different on the eyes. One of those, you know? The first is Makeup Geek Cosmopolitan which I hear tell is a dupe for MAC Expensive Pink. It's the super brightened orange peachy pink that lives on my lids half the time. It's not so twinny twin (fraternal twins, then?) is *Makeup Geek Duochrome Eyeshadow in Mai Tai. Even though they look like similar pinks in the pan, Mai Tai has a pink to lilac duochrome shift and OMG it's totally gorgeous for brown eyes. And green eyes, come to think of it.
The Perfect Purples
I don't wear purps all that often but, they are reallllly nice for a fun pop of color that isn't totally insane. My number one favorite is the *Makeup Geek Matte Eyeshadow in Fashion Addict. It's the shadow that I used in this tutorial for xoVain, and happens to be my number one best post on Instagram. Weird, right? Anyway, it's a gorgeous bright warm toned purple shade that makes the green parts of my eyes really pop.
For something a little more glam, I've been wearing *Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow in Curtain Call. This is the sultry metallic burgundy eyeshadow of your dreams. It's just. So. Good. Can you imagine this color as a lipstick? I'd die.
So the mattes couldn't really be a whole lot different. First up for a subtle pretty shade literally anyone can wear any day forever and ever is *MUG Tuscan Sun. It's a pretty light salmon color that is a crease favorite. It's the kind of shade (I mean, God, the name obviously put it in my head) that takes you somewhere else. Like, I don't know, Tuscany.
Now, for something completely different, for a bright pop of color I've got *MUG Early Bird. It's a bright bright bold in your face orange matte. It's the kind of shade that may scare you a bit but it's actually super flattering. Instead of being like a traffic cone orange it's almost rusty. It's a 1970's orange in the best way possible.
The Extra Special Ones
Oh guys. I've saved the best for last, I really have. I'm actually having a hard time deciding which one should go first. Here, hold on. Ok, I had to swatch them again to decide and it's *Makeup Geek Duochrome in Blacklight. Which, most accurate name of all time. You can see it in action in this totally low key, everyday makeup tutorial. It's a silvery blue shade with a really pretty pink shift. Not maybe one you'll wear all the time but it is one that is worth it for special occasions.
And last but definitely not least is *MUG Legend. Otherwise known as the most perfect copper eyeshadow of all time. I wore this guy a lot in the fall before I got the bangs and resulting I can't wear eyeshadow brain problem. It's just, I genuinely can't think of a more perfect copper color, I really can't.
