The Fall Makeup I Didn't Expect To Love

In New Orleans we've had this weird whiplash change from being in the mid to upper 80s everyday to the 60s and 70s instead. I know, I know. Most of you are probably (literally) chillin' in something closer to 40 or 50 degrees and don't want to hear me complain about the cold. I get it.
But this sudden temperature change has FINALLY made it feel like fall. I can wear long sleeves without pitting out in ten minutes, I've been cuddling in my slippers like my life depends on it, and fall makeup finally feels right. I guess I've been wearing fall makeup for a while but not as in earnest as I have the last few weeks.
And in those last few weeks I've been going for a different fall color scheme than I usually do, so I thought I'd have a nice long chat with you about it.
The most low-key color of the bunch is a peachy nude. I don't know why but peach doesn't really feel like a fall shade. Maybe because straight up orange would be more pumpkin spiced but barely there peach tones have been taking over my face lately.
Peachy eyeshadows have been a bit more pink toned to keep things brighter. *Makeup Geek Mai Tai and *Makeup Geek Tuscan Sun have been top choices. Mai Tai is an orange shadow with a gorgeous pink duochrome that. I. Just. Can't. Stop. Wearing. It's peachy perfection. Tuscan sun is a matte salmon-y shade that I've been loving in the crease. ooph. That sounds a bit off color. Anyway.
For blush/highlight I've been turning to *Makeup Geek Blush in Romance because it has that golden shimmer to make your cheeks all lit and glowy.
Finally I've got a nude lipstick that I actually like. The NYX Lip Lingerie in Ruffle Trim is a peach shade but it isn't too peachy. Like it's not so peachy that it doesn't look nude. The formula of this one is in between the velvet matte lip creams and the liquid suede. So it's comfortable and not drying, but it's still matte.
Ok. So. Copper? Probably a bit more of a traditional fall color. Adding just a hint of metallic makeup to my line up was the best decision I've ever made because who can give you shit when you are wearing the perfect metallic copper winged liner? No one, that's who.
Speaking of copper liner, the H&M Aqua Liquid Eyeliner in copper has been my JAM. Unfortunately they got rid of it. Cool. Thanks H&M. Their Roast Chestnut color is the closest H&M has, but if you want something more metallic, try the Urban Decay Razor Sharp Eyeliner in Snakebite. Seriously the razor sharp line is The. Bomb.
As for eyeshadow I have three loves. First is the L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Eyeshadow In Amber Rush it's the best bright light copper shade, maybe ever. I've always loved the Infallible eyeshadows because the shine is on point and they last all day without breaking a sweat. For a more traditional copper color *Makeup Geek Legend is the one. It's so pigmented and metallic. If you like copper eyeshadow even just a little bit, you need this one. And last eyeshadow is a slow burner, *Makeup Geek Pocket Change. It's less showy than the other two but it's more of a classic coppery-taupe shade.
Last we have my favvvvorite lip treatment of all time, * Lipstick Queen Queen Bee Lip treatment. It's a golden bronzy flecked lip treatment that smells like warm honey. If that isn't enough to make you want to wear this lip balm for the rest of your days, it also makes your lips look bigger. Bam. Like I said, best lip treatment of all time.
Last shade is purple. Yes. Gotta love a good purple. I mean, most people tend to run for the red wine, burgundy, oxblood shades for fall but nuh uh. I'm all about the purple.
Except, I guess the Colourpop Lippie Stix in LBB because that is more of a burgundy shade. It's the lipstick I'm wearing in that cute picture of my face way up there. But it has just enough of a purple hue to it to count, right?
If you are looking for more of a moody, dark power lipstick in a purple shade, try out *Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipstick in Villain. It is DARK, my friends. Like, dark dark. Almost black it's so dark, dark. Which, as a beach goth, I actually really like. I've been reaching for this one a lot this week because dark lips just feel right.
Ok. Let's finish this up with eyeshadow. For a major (matte) pack of bright purple pigment, I go for *Makeup Geek Fashion Addict. I used it in this eyeshadow tutorial for xoVain and I'm still a little bit obsessed with using it in the exact same way. For more shimmer and a slightly more subtle color, try out *Makeup Geek Anarchy. It's a little more mauve so you won't look quite so bright and in your face about wearing purple shadow.
What colors have you been loving this autumn?
